Surrey will look to bounce back from opening day defeat as they make the trip to South Northumberland CC to face Durham tomorrow.

On Tuesday, Surrey were beaten by seven wickets by Leicestershire at Guildford. Batting first, Surrey posted a below-par 246/8. On his maiden professional game as captain, Ben Geddes top scored with a 73. Geddes was well assisted by wicketkeeper batter Josh Blake – who showed a lot of promise on professional debut with 44.

Leicestershire chased their target of 245 with 10 overs remaining. Opener Nick Welch carried his bat with a magnificent 123 not out. He was well supported by South African Test match batter Wiaan Mulder (71*).

SURREY SQUAD

Surrey have named an unchanged squad for the trip to Durham.

2021 SEMI-FINAL

Durham and Surrey last faced off in the 2021 semi-final. Batting first, Mark Stoneman scored 117 and captain Jamie Smith made 85 as Surrey compiled 280/8 in 50 overs.  Durham chased their target down in 47.3 overs with five wickets in hand thanks to half centuries from Alex Lees, Scott Borthwick and David Bedingham.

Last year’s beaten finalists are yet to play a game in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

On Sunday, Durham were defeated by five runs to neighbours Lincolnshire in the National Counties v First Class County fixtures.
