Laurie Evans has been added to the Surrey squad to face Essex in the Vitality Blast at The Kia Oval on Sunday.
Evans was unavailable for the opener at Hove on Friday due to an agreement between Surrey & Sussex and will be available for the remainder of the competition, other than Sussex’s visit to The Kia Oval next month.
If selected, the Surrey Academy graduate would be playing his first T20 for the Club since June 2009.
Surrey’s Vitality Blast campaign began with a washed out fixture at Sussex on Friday. Only 15.2 overs were possible before the players were forced off and unable to return.
Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Jason Roy & Reece Topley are all preparing for England’s upcoming fixtures. It was confirmed earlier today that Roy will miss the IT20 series with Pakistan but will remain with the national squad ahead of the white-ball series with Australia.
Ollie Pope could miss up to four months after dislocating his left shoulder during the final Test between England and Pakistan.
Skipper Jade Dernbach is out with a groin injury. All-rounders Jordan Clark (foot and ankle), Rikki Clarke (hip) and Ryan Patel (knee) are all out.
Nick Kimber (knee), Morne Morkel (ankle) and Liam Plunkett (hamstring) are also out of contention for this match while Conor McKerr’s season was ended by knee surgery earlier this month. Hashim Amla remains unavailable.
The match is behind closed doors but will be live streamed by on Facebook Watch and available on kiaoval.com shortly before play begins at 2pm. You can keep up to date with the game as it happens by following Surrey on Twitter.
