Surrey have named a squad of 13 for their Bob Willis Trophy match with Essex, including loanees Laurie Evans & Adam Finch.

Sussex batsman Evans and Worcestershire seamer Finch have both joined the squad on a one-week loan deal specifically for this match at Chelmsford.

Gus Atkinson has also been added to the squad from last week’s opener against Middlesex, with only Jordan Clark dropping out due to a side strain he suffered in that match. Should Atkinson play, he would make his senior debut for the Club.

Director of Cricket Alec Stewart said: “We have four players in the England Test set up while Tom Curran & Jason Roy have been made unavailable for selection for Surrey after their ODI series and Reece Topley is recovering from his groin strain.

“With that and the fact Hashim Amla and Morne Morkel are still waiting on clearance to travel to the UK and six players, including Topley, are unfit to play, we have had to make use of the loan system to boost our depleted squad.

“Both Worcestershire and Sussex have been very accommodating in releasing Adam and Laurie for this round of games which gives them both a great opportunity to play 1st class cricket.”

Rory Burns, Sam Curran, Ben Foakes and Ollie Pope are the four mentioned by Stewart in the Test bubble at Emirates Old Trafford.

As well as Clark & Topley, four further players are unavailable through fitness issues. Jade Dernbach is progressing with his back-to-bowling programme. Nicholas Kimber & Conor McKerr are both unavailable with knee injuries while Liam Plunkett remains sidelined with a hamstring strain.
