Cameron Steel followed up his half-century by taking a couple of Middlesex wickets on the second and final day of Surrey’s friendly against Middlesex at Merchant Taylor’s School in north London.

Steel pinned both Robbie White and Jack Davies lbw with his wily leg-spin whilst Will Jacks also found himself in the wickets column – his handy off-spinners picking up a brace of wickets on a demanding but useful day for Surrey’s bowlers.

The Middlesex opening pair of Sam Robson and Mark Stoneman showed all their experience and a variety of shots in the morning session, defying the pace of Reece Topley and Matt Dunn to retire on 44 and 81 respectively.

Surrey’s bowlers sent down a total of 84.5 overs on a chilly day that will have given them some sound preparation before the start of their County Championship campaign in a little over a week’s time.

They will begin their 2022 domestic season with an LV= County Championship trip to Warwickshire, starting on Thursday 7th April. Remember that every single ball from all of the men’s 1st XI fixtures will be streamed live on kiaoval.com and the club’s official YouTube channel.
