Ollie Pope, Dan Lawrence, Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson have been named in England’s squad for the upcoming series with Sri Lanka
The third and final Test match of the Rothesay Test series with Sri Lanka will take place at The Kia Oval in September. A limited number of tickets are on sale now.
Jamie Smith and Gus Atkinson were mightily impressive in their maiden Test series against the West Indies in July. Atkinson’s performances with the ball saw him named as the Player of the Series. He took 22 wickets over the three matches – including 12/106 on Test debut at Lord’s.
Wicketkeeper Jamie Smith scored 207 runs in his first Test series, including a brilliant 95 at Edgbaston.
Vice-captain Ollie Pope was awarded the Player of the Match in the second Test match after scoring 121 and 51 as England won by 241 runs at Trent Bridge.
Dan Lawrence is named in the England squad again and will be looking to add to his 11 Test matches.
Opening batter Zak Crawley will miss the series due to a fractured right little finger sustained in the third Test victory over the West Indies.
Seam bowler Dillion Pennington, who featured in the Test squad during the recent series victory over the West Indies, will also miss the series after sustaining a hamstring injury while playing in The Hundred competition.
There is a first call-up for Essex middle-order batter Jordan Cox. The 23-year-old right-handed bat has been in excellent form for Essex this season after joining from Kent at the start of the year. He has been involved in the England set-up previously, having toured Pakistan with the England white-ball squad in the autumn of 2022.
Nottinghamshire seamer Olly Stone returns to the Test squad for the first time since June 2021 and will be looking to add to his three Test caps.
