A look at everything that happened during the Vitality Blast encounter between Surrey and Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Tuesday.

WHAT HAPPENED

Surrey were on the wrong side of a thrilling Vitality Blast clash at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff when they were defeated by just one run against Glamorgan.

Winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Surrey held Glamorgan to 153/6 before making 152/9 from their own 20 overs.

With 27 needed from the final two overs, New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson appeared to be taking Surrey home but, with two required from the final delivery, hit the ball straight back to bowler Timm van der Gugten and was run out for a valiant 31 from 15 balls.

While he took Surrey deep into the game, it was the ever elegant innings of Ollie Pope that had given Surrey the platform. The England batsman made 60 from 45 balls before he was run out attempting to get back on strike for the penultimate over. He has now hit two half-centuries in his three Vitality Blast innings so far this season.

Surrey had conceded 64 from the opening powerplay of the match but clawed their way back into the game through their triumvirate of spinners. Daniel Moriarty was the pick ending with 1/16 from his four overs but he was ably backed up by Will Jacks (1/21) and Gareth Batty (0/29).

Surrey had an even tighter grip on the game when Gus Atkinson bowled a double wicket maiden in the 18th over of the match. But when the seamer returned for the final over, he saw Billy Root hit him for four sixes and take Glamorgan to a total that proved ever so slightly out of Surrey’s reach.
