Surrey beat Worcestershire by 281 runs last weekend to stay top of Division One of the Vitality County Championship.

Ollie Pope (63) and Dan Lawrence (84) rescued Surrey from 15/4 to 213 all out. The pair looked to attack in difficult batting conditions.

Dan Worrall took 6/22 as Surrey’s bowlers skittled the Pears for 128.

The Surrey batters built on their first innings lead, with four batters scoring half-centuries as Surrey scored 427 to give them a lead of 512.

Despite some lower order hitting, Worcestershire were dismissed for 231 to give the Three Feathers victory by 281 runs.

Hampshire sit sixth in Division One, having won their first game of the season last weekend with their five-wicket victory at Nottinghamshire. They have drawn four and lost one game this season – at The Kia Oval against Surrey at the end of April.

Surrey secured victory by an innings and 11 runs at the end of April.

Dan Worrall, Jordan Clark and Gus Atkinson took three wickets apiece as Surrey bowled Hampshire out for 151 on the first day.

Skipper Rory Burns scored his first century since July 2022 and Jordan Clark scored a quickfire 106 not out as Surrey amassed 359.

The Three Feathers wrapped their innings victory as Dan Worrall took 5/47 to knock Hampshire over for 197.
