Surrey’s Sam Curran & Jason Roy have both been named in England’s preliminary squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE & Oman in October & November.

Chris Jordan, set to re-join Surrey after the end of the 2021 season, is also in the 15-man squad while Tom Curran is one of three reserves who will travel & train with the group in case of any enforced absences.

England’s World Cup campaign will begin against West Indies in Dubai on the 23rd October with four further group matches to follow against Australia, South Africa & two qualifiers yet to be confirmed.

The top two in each group after that stage will progress to the semi-finals on the 10th & 11th November before the final is played in Dubai on Sunday 14 November.

England are scheduled to play four warm-up matches including a two-match T20I series against Pakistan with both matches due to take place at the Rawalpindi International Stadium on 14-15 October.

Sam Curran has played 16 T20Is for England, taking 16 wickets. In the Vitality Blast, he has 645 runs and 44 wickets in 50 matches for Surrey. In the Indian Premier League, he has 32 wickets and 333 runs in 30 appearances for Chennai Super Kings & Kings XI.

Jason Roy has played 48 T20Is for England, scoring 1193 runs. He has also featured in leagues around the world including the IPL, PSL, BBL & Bangladesh Premier League on top of 3322 runs in 114 matches for Surrey.
