Monday was a very special day for one particular volunteer in London after The Kia Oval was renamed in honour of his efforts during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Shahidul Alam Ratan has worked throughout the pandemic to ensure underprivileged children across England’s capital had access to cricket training and fun cricket related activities.

His work was recognised by The National Lottery, who fund his organisation Capital Kids Cricket, on Monday when The Kia Oval adorned his name on the side of its iconic Bedser Stand.

He was greeted at the ground by Surrey players Amar Virdi & Ryan Patel, who thanked him for his efforts and discussed how important these opportunities are for youngsters growing up in the South East.
