Luke Griffiths has signed a one-month contract to play for Surrey during the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Griffiths is a right-arm fast bowler who has been part of the Surrey Player Pathway since the U12 age group. The 17-year-old is a fast hit-the-pitch bowler who has led the Surrey U18 attack for the last two years. He was the joint third-highest wicket-taker in this season’s U18s County T20 Cup, averaging 12.8 and claiming 11 dismissals in five matches. In Surrey U18s’ first County Championship game, Griffiths returned match figures of 4/107.
Griffiths started playing cricket at Farnham CC before joining Camberley. He attends Charterhouse School in Godalming where he will be Head Boy next year.
A talented goalkeeper, Griffiths is a powerful lower-order batter, who is also athletic in the field. He boasts of a 39-ball 57 at New Malden against Hertfordshire Cricket Board U18s in the 50-over competition.
