Surrey & England batsmen Rory Burns & Ollie Pope have moved The Hundred sides for 2021 as Test Central Contracted Players.

Club captain Burns will move from Lord’s-based London Spirit to the Oval Invincibles while Pope goes from Southern Brave to Welsh Fire in Cardiff.

Rory Burns said: “It is slightly strange to move teams without having played a game and I’m glad that I have ended up at Oval Invincibles and at a ground I obviously know very well with Surrey.

“I know a lot of the guys who were picked in the original Invincibles squad, so I’m hoping that over the next few months we can retain as many of them as possible and then we’ll see what happens at the draft which was a lot of fun to watch last year.”

This news marks the start of a three-month process where, until the end of January, each of the eight teams will be able to retain players from their original men’s squads for the 2021 season. The teams are also able to retain and sign players to complete their women’s squads.

A draft will be held in early 2021 to allocate the remaining players for the men’s squads.
