Yousef Majid has signed his first full professional contract with Surrey County Cricket Club.

Majid, who is currently part of the Surrey Academy, was given an opportunity to play for the Club on a short-term contract during this year’s Royal London Cup. The left arm spinner impressed with his controlled, accurate bowling – taking nine wickets in the competition. Majid picked up the Surrey Academy Player of the Year at this year’s Club Awards Evening.

Majid made his debut for the Surrey Second XI in 2021 and this season has taken 10 wickets in two Second XI Championship games – including 6-54 against Middlesex. He was called up to play for the England U19s against Sri Lanka this summer, where he took three wickets in the Youth Test Match.

Director of Cricket at Surrey CCC, Alec Stewart said “Yousef has been in and around our group for the last couple of years and the progress he has made during this period has been great to see. We’re pleased that he has signed a contract with the Club and look forward to him continuing his development as a cricketer.”
