One of the biggest hitters in the English Game.
A Match Winning Player.
Whilst Surrey fans were always aware of his potential brilliance, Roy’s arrival as the leading run scorer in the 2014 NatWest T20 Blast saw England develop another exciting option at the top of the order. He made his International debut later that summer and continued to impress during a stint with the England Lions over the winter.
Jason Roy partnered with Aaron Finch in a record T20 Blast first wicket partnership or 187, in which Roy scored 120, in 2016 and in the same year hit 162 for England in an ODI against Sri Lanka at his home ground, the Kia Oval. His partnership with Finch only blossomed, combining with the Australian for an opening stand of 194 against Middlesex in 2018. 2019 was a year to remember for Jason, playing an important role in winning the ICC World Cup, including a run out from the boundary to seal the tightest of final victories for England. After an incredible white-ball season,
Jason earned a Test call up making his debut at Lord’s against Ireland, where he notched up his first half-century for the three lions. The opener was then given the nod for the home Ashes series against Australia.
Since then, Roy has continued to shine at the top of the order for England and on the occasions he can pull on the Surrey shirt.Related Articles
