All-rounder Jamie Overton admits Surrey aren’t quite where they hoped to be come the end of the first day of their LV Insurance County Championship match with Gloucestershire but that they are still in the game.
Surrey were asked to bat first after losing the toss on a blustery and cold day in Bristol. Hashim Amla top scored with 56 but without Overton’s contribution of 40, Surrey’s stumps score of 220/9 would have looked a lot different.
