Four young cricketers from the Surrey Pathway represented the London and East team at the prestigious Bunbury Festival last week
Roan Kennedy, Rudy Northcott, Ollie Gibson and Fergus de Mestre of the Surrey Pathway system took part in the tournament at the National Performance Centre at Loughborough.
The renowned festival features the best U15 cricketers divided into four squads based on their county of origin: London and East, South and West, the Midlands and the North. The squads compete in 50-over and T20 competitions across a round-robin of games.
The London and South East side won all three of their 50 over matches. In the shorter format, the side beat the Midlands before losing to the North by six wickets.
Batting all-rounder Roan Kennedy – who plays his club cricket for Spencer CC in Wandsworth, played three important knocks in the week. He started the week with an unbeaten 48 against the Midlands in a T20, before scoring 55 a day later in the 50 over victory over the North before adding 41 in the three-wicket victory over the Midlands.
Batter Rudy Northcott, who plays his club cricket for Lewes CC in his native Sussex, scored a quick-fire 47 not out that would prove to be the difference in the tight 50 over victory over the Midlands.
All-rounder Ollie Gibson smashed 75 off 48 balls in the narrow T20 defeat to the North. The Chobham CC player also added an important 27 with the bat in the narrow victory over the Midlands.
Esher CC left arm spinner Fergus de Mestre impressed with the ball, taking 2/29 from his 10 overs in the narrow victory over the Midlands, plus 3/48 in the narrow victory over the North.
