With our 2021 County Championship schedule now confirmed, we’re looking at our history in each of the fixtures that will make up our group stage programme.

The 2021 County Championship will begin with a six-team group stage, based on final positions in the 2019 County Championship and 2020 Bob Willis Trophy.

The top two from each group after 10 four-day fixtures will go to Division One, third and fourth to Division Two and fifth and sixth to Division Three.

Surrey will face Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Leicestershire, Middlesex & Somerset in the first group stage. The first 8 rounds of matches will be played in April & May with each match starting on a Thursday.

May 2015 – Surrey won by 7 wickets

A match that made international headlines for the impact of one man – Kevin Pietersen. The England international hit 355 not out from just 396 balls in the first innings.

The remarkable strike rate allowed there to be four innings completed in this fixture with 1547 runs scored across the four days.

June 2014 – Surrey won by 10 wickets

One century and four further half centuries in the first innings, two from current players and one from our Head Coach, set up a simple final chase for a 10 wicket win in Division Two of the LV= County Championship.

Gary Wilson made 160 not out while Chris Tremlett hit an incredible 90 from 183 from batting down at nine. Jason Roy made 76 from six while Hashim Amla scored 71 and Vikram Solanki 54.

It took Leicestershire two innings to get 68 runs ahead of that total before Rory Burns & Zafar Ansari knocked off the total.

Jade Dernbach & Stuart Meaker took the lead with the ball in this emphatic low scoring victory. Dernbach took seven & Meaker nine while it was runs from the middle order from Mark Ramprakash, Zander de Bruyn & Tom Maynard that did most of the batting for Surrey.
