Surrey Second XI will get their season underway with a two day friendly against their Somerset counterparts at Taunton Vale CC this week.

Eight members of the professional squad make the trip west for the game, all eager to get their season underway in a positive manner, before competitive Second XI starts with a trip to The Ageas Bowl to play Hampshire in a four day game starting on Tuesday April 19th.

Spin pair Amar Virdi and Dan Moriarty will be playing their first cricket of the summer, as well as seam quartet Jamie Overton, Nick Kimber, Gus Atkinson and Nathan Barnwell.

All rounder Tom Lawes is playing in the game as a batter as he continues his recovery from a mild rib stress injury and Nico Reifer will be looking for runs in his maiden outing of the regular season.

The squad also features four players from outside the professional squad, Academy batters Sheridon Gumbs and Tim Lloyd, triallist Justin Broad and wicket keeper Josh Blake.
