South African Suné Luus joins Surrey for second half of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Luus brings a wealth of international experience to Surrey, having established herself as one of South Africa’s leading all-rounders.
A talented spinner and accomplished middle-order batter, Luus has been a key figure in South Africa’s rise on the international stage.
Having amassed nearly 4,000 runs in white-ball cricket for her country, Luus has played more than 240 games. In 2022, Luus was named captain of South Africa’s Test squad for their fixture against England in Taunton.
The 30-year-old has also enjoyed a successful career in domestic and franchise cricket around the world. In 2018 she made her debut in the WBBL for Brisbane Heat and in 2022 she won the inaugural CPL with Trinbago Knight Riders.
After joining Surrey, Luus said: “Surrey are among the greatest cricket clubs in the world, so it was an easy decision to join the team when I got the call. I’m excited to link up with the squad and play domestic cricket in England once again.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute both on and off the field and hopefully help Surrey compete for silverware in the One Day Cup.”
Emma Calvert, Director of Women’s Cricket at Surrey, added: “Suné is a fantastic addition to our squad. Her experience at the highest level, versatility as an all-rounder and leadership qualities will be hugely valuable to us for the remainder of the season.
“She is a highly skilled player who has regularly shown her ability at the highest level, and we’re all delighted to welcome her to Surrey.”
