Mark Stoneman and Jade Dernbach were Surrey’s standout players in a 2nd XI T20 defeat against Middlesex at Merchant Taylor’s School.

Stoneman hit 55 as Surrey made 152/7 from their 20 overs before Dernbach picked up two wickets in the unsuccessful defence of that total. Middlesex eventually won by four wickets with eleven balls to spare.

Stoneman hit eight fours in his half-century and was supported most by Ryan Patel (30), Gus Atkinson (22) and Tom Lawes (21*).

Dernbach’s two wickets were both openers Sam Robson and Josh de Caires but it was number three Atharva Prasad and Daniel O’Driscoll who won the game with 41 and 37 respectively.
