Surrey ease to victory in the first round of the Vitality County Cup.
Surrey moved into the quarter-finals of the Vitality T20 County Cup after a comfortable 74 run victory over Worcestershire.
After losing the toss, Bryony Smith’s team were asked to bat at Himley CC.
Smith and Rachel King opened up and put on a 28-run partnership before King fell, caught and bowled with the final ball of the fourth over.
Alice Davidson-Richards made a steady start before an outstanding piece of work in the field from by Clare Boycott saw the Surrey all-rounder run out for 11.
Jemima Spence continued her excellent form with a fluent innings before she was caught sweeping for 28.
Aylish Cranstone and Paige Scholfield posted a 47-run partnership that helped the Three Feather’s finish on a respectable 171/7, boosted by a cameo from Phoebe Franklin (16 off 8 balls) on her return to the team.

Dani Gregory came on as the first change, and picked up the wicket of Amy Griffiths, caught at long-on by the ever reliable Alice Davidson-Richards.
Gregory picked up two more wickets leading the bowling attack and Worcestershire fell to 55/6 after 11 overs.
Bethan Miles, having taken her first wicket in her opening spell, doubled her return picking up the wicket of Lucy Harris caught at mid-wicket for 7.
Worcestershire were seven wickets down in the 14th over and the hosts had a tough task ahead of them with 103 runs required from six overs.
Stifling the batters to only 29 runs from the remaining six overs, Surrey cruised to victory by 74 runs and moved into the next round of the knockout competition.
