After a thumping start to their campaign at Reigate, Surrey are back in action tomorrow in the ECB 50-over competition, taking on Essex.

Skipper Amy Gordon and her side will be aiming to make it two wins out of two in the competition.

Surrey have named a 12-strong playing squad, with the bowling substitution rule allowing teams to play 12 players. New additions to the lineup, Rebecca Denman and Shimako Kato, will be making their Surrey debuts on Monday.

Kato is a Japanese international and has represented her country in 15 T20Is.

Denman, who plays for Surrey u18s and is a part of South East Stars Emerging Player Programme (EPP), is a batting all-rounder.

The game will begin at 11 am, and a live stream will be available to watch on Surrey YouTube. Surrey’s social channels will provide regular live updates, with a report being published on the website at the end of the match.

LAST TIME OUT

Surrey delivered a clinical performance in the season opener and collected five points as they comprehensively defeated Hampshire by seven wickets with over 33 remaining in their innings.

Priya Khatkar (5/10) and Charlotte Stubbs (3/13) wreaked havoc with the ball, skittling Hampshire for 101, before the batters aced the chase inside 17 overs, with Stubbs (34*) top-scoring, to round off a perfect day for The Three Feathers.

Landing on the spot relentlessly and giving the batter nothing to work with, Khatkar spun a web around Hampshire in her non-stop 10-over spell that concluded with the 25-year-old securing her five-wicket-haul for Surrey, while receiving admirable support from Stubbs, who also bowled a fierce five-over spell.

In their approach of the chase, the Three Feathers were unforgiving and maintained a high tempo, looking to score off every opportunity possible. After quick starts from the top order, an unbeaten, easy-on-the-eye partnership of 60 from 64 balls between Stubbs and Laxmi Johal (24*) took Surrey past the finish line.

ESSEX

Essex began their season with a seven-wicket defeat to Sussex at Felsted School.

Batting first, middle-order batters Matilda Callaghan and Katherine Speed top scored with 30 apiece as Essex were bundled over for 169, with Sussex putting in a collective bowling performance.

Each bowler who got a chance to bowl picked up a wicket at least, with Millie Taylor posting the best figures of 2 for 19.

Despite losing two early wickets, Sussex aced the change as a 157-run partnership between Alice MacLeod (84 not out) and Chiara Green (68) for the third wicket took them home comfortably.
