The 2021 English domestic cricket season is disappearing in the rear view mirror but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of cricket for us to watch from around the world over the next month.

Several Surrey players are a key part of the England team while there is plenty of domestic cricket happening in the Southern Hemisphere over the next few months.

T20 World Cup

Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Jason Roy & Reece Topley are currently in the United Arab Emirates for the T20 World Cup. Jordan & Roy have been integral to England’s excellent start.

In November, England will play their final two group games. Should they qualify for the semi-finals, these will be played on 10th & 11th November before the final on 14th November. All matches are live on Sky Sports for UK viewers.

England tour of Australia begins

England Lions and the Test specialists will fly to Australia on the 4th November. From a Surrey perspective, this means Rory Burns, Ben Foakes, Ollie Pope & Jamie Smith.

Burns & Pope are part of the squad for the Ashes series while Foakes & Smith are in the Lions squad. In November, this group will play one 3-day intra-squad fixture and one 4-day intra-squad fixture while the Lions are expected to play an Australia A side. The dates for these tour matches are still to be confirmed.

The first Ashes Test will begin on the 8th December.

Abu Dhabi T10 League

Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Jamie Overton, Jason Roy & Reece Topley will all play in the upcoming edition of the T10 League, held between November 19 and December 4.

Jordan & Roy will be icon players for the Northern Warriors & Delhi Bulls respectively. Those two teams played the final of the edition earlier in 2021, with Warriors emerging victorious.

Overton, who was the leading wicket taker in the competition back in January & February, will play for Team Abu Dhabi in the next instalment.

Jacks and Topley will play for Bangla Tigers & Northern Warriors respectively.

Australian summer

New signing Daniel Worrall will continue performing for South Australia. They have one more Sheffield Shield fixture against Tasmania, starting on 10th November. After the end of that fixture, players will start to look towards the upcoming Big Bash League which begins early in December.

Training at The Kia Oval

Meanwhile, after taking October off, the Surrey players will be back in training at The Kia Oval through November. Work will largely focus on strength, conditioning and fitness in this early block with more cricket skills incorporated as the 2022 season draws ever nearer.
