Rory Burns, Sam Curran and Ollie Pope have all been named in the England squad for the first two Tests against India next month.

The series starts at Trent Bridge on Wednesday August 4th before carrying onto Lord’s for the second game, which starts on Thursday August 12th.

The squad will report to Loughborough on Wednesday 28 July, with Burns and Curran available to play for their teams in The Hundred for the first two matches of the competition.

Pope, who suffered an thigh injury during Surrey’s Vitality Blast match against the Kent Spitfires, will be hopeful of completing his recovery in time to feature for the start of the series.

All three players have come through the Surrey CCC age group sides and Academy, rising to represent their Club and county at the highest level. Burns was appointed as Surrey CCC Club Captain in December 2017, leading Surrey to the County Championship in his first year in charge.

The series will also feature the long awaited return of Test cricket to The Kia Oval, when Engand play India in the fourth Test, starting on Thursday September 2nd.
