The T20 County Cup starts this weekend for Surrey as they take on Hampshire at Beckenham in the first round of the competition.

Match Day Guide

Surrey will play Hampshire in a T20 at Beckenham tomorrow. Play will begin at 2.30pm.

Surrey Squad

Surrey select a squad of 13 for their first T20 game of the season with Tilly Corteen-Coleman making a return.

Skipper Bryony Smith and all-rounder Alice Monaghan remain unavailable. Smith misses out due to a muscle strain, and Monaghan thanks to a thumb injury picked up against Somerset last week.

How can I keep up with play?

The match will be broadcast live on Surrey’s YouTube channel, with a link posted on the Surrey Match Centre and social media channels.

Surrey Cricket’s social media channels will provide live updates from Beckenham, with clips and highlights posted throughout the day. A written report and highlights will be available at the end of each day’s play.

Last time out

Surrey and Hampshire are yet to meet in a T20 clash but have already gone head-to-head in the Metro Bank Women’s One Day Cup. Hampshire came out on top after Surrey failed to chase 259.

With little of remark in both innings, the defeat was enough to spark a dominant Surrey win against Durham upon their return home as they added bonus points to their position on the table.

Despite performance against Hampshire in their last meeting, Surrey return to play having finished on a tie with The Blaze in a women’s List A game that saw the second highest amount of runs scored. Almost 700 runs scored between the two teams saw Alice Capsey make her maiden Surrey and List A century, whilst Alexa Stonehouse made a fast 32 off 18 balls to get Surrey through to the end. Equally as valuable in the bowling innings, the left arm seamer dismissed England opener Tammy Beaumont with the first wicket of the day before taking her second wicket of Sarah Bryce in an excellent display of keeping from Captain Kira Chathli.

Despite not emerging with a win, Surrey’s performance acts as evidence of what’s sure to be an exciting game as they eagerly anticipate Hampshires arrival at Beckenham.

HAMPSHIRE

Previewed by Alex Smith – ECB Reporters Network supported by Rothesay

Captain: Georgia Adams

Interim Head Coach: Paul Prichard

The big questions: What is life like without Charlotte Edwards? During her tenure at Utilita Bowl, Edwards won seven trophies and improved countless cricketers. It was little surprise England came calling. Paul Pritchard steps out of her shadow, with an impressive cast including James Hibberd, Beth Morgan and Ian Cox supporting him.

Player to watch: Last season, Vipers didn’t win a match when Charli Knott wasn’t playing. In 50-over cricket, she scored two fifties and a century in her effective style, plus 16 off-spin wickets. She has all the hallmarks of being Australia’s next biggest superstar – and recently earned her first international call-up after a breakout winter in her homeland.

Young gun: Abi Norgrove captained England Under-19s to a World Cup semi-final over the winter. Offers maturity beyond her years and steady middle-order batting. Very difficult to dislodge when she is in full flow.

Final thought: Along with Edwards, senior players have moved on from the south coast. Charlie Dean, Emily Windsor, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Alice Monaghan and Georgia Elwiss have all left, with little experience replacing them – with the exception of Naomi Dattani. There is plenty of young talent coming through, but can they step up? Ellyse Perry’s two-match cameo is hugely exciting.

Squad: Georgia Adams (captain), Charli Knott, Elyse Perry, Maia Bouchier, Lauren Bell, Freya Kemp, Nancy Harman, Linsey Smith, Rhianna Southby, Ella McCaughan, Mary Taylor, Freya Davies, Bex Tyson, Naomi Dattani, Megan Sturge, Ava Lee, Abi Norgrove, Daisy Mullan, Poppy Tulloch (rookie), Daisy Gibb (rookie).
