Surrey County Cricket Club are pleased to announce the return of their sustainability-focused Vitality Blast fixture this summer, following a successful start last season.

On Sunday, 6 July, the Kia Oval will host its second ‘Sustainabili-T20’, with the support of its partner, SSE Energy Solutions, as Surrey women’s and men’s teams take the field against Essex Eagles, from 12 pm and 4:30 pm respectively, in an all-action Vitality Blast double header.

Launched in 2024, the ‘Sustainabili-T20’ match is part of the Club’s commitment to raising awareness about climate change and environment-friendly practices as the Kia Oval continues on its journey to reach the ambitious target of net zero.

Alongside collaborating with SSE Energy Solutions, the Club will also work with several local initiatives and organisations, such as Bee Urban and Surrey Wildlife Trust, to engage with supporters and deliver the sustainability-themed match day.

With a range of exciting activations planned around the ground, including an SSE Energy Solutions quiz with fun prizes for the winners, the match will focus on engaging our supporters, staff and partners in conversations about the climate as well as encouraging everyone present at the Kia Oval to be more involved in sustainable initiatives. More information about all the activities planned for the day will be shared in due course.

Steve Elworthy, Chief Executive at Surrey CCC, said: “Sustainability is an important part of our current and future plans here at Surrey and the Kia Oval. We have set ourselves an ambitious goal of becoming the most sustainable cricket ground in the world, and are constantly searching for innovative ways to keep moving in the right direction.

“Having a special sustainability-themed match day is a fantastic way to leverage the platform that cricket provides us. It not only allows us to start a dialogue with our spectators about environment-friendly practices but also display glimpses of the great work that local initiatives are doing in our neighbourhood and in the wider county of Surrey.”
