The 2023 Season - September - Kia Oval Skip to main content

The coloured clothes and white balls will be put away as Surrey return to LV= Insurance County Championship action in September.

The first opponents on the restart are Warwickshire, who visit The Kia Oval for four days from Sunday September 3rd, doubtless hoping to improve on the six-wicket reverse they suffered last July following a superb burst from Kemar Roach on the final morning.

Surrey sit out the next round of matches while The Kia Oval prepares for the third one-day international against New Zealand on Wednesday 13th.

The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Cup is also wrapped up in September, South East Stars home to Thunder at Guildford on Tuesday 5th and pitching camp at Beckenham for the visit of The Blaze five days later. They finish the qualifiers at Edgbaston against Central Sparks on Sunday 16th. The last four clashes come on Thursday 21st while the final is at Northampton on Sunday 24th.

Surrey’s final home Championship match sees Northamptonshire come to The Kia Oval on Tuesday 19th while the campaign comes to a close when they travel to the Ageas Bowl for their return clash against Hampshire from Tuesday 26th.

Fortunes have been decidedly mixed for Surrey at the ground in recent times, victory by an innings and 58 runs in 2018 followed by a crushing 272-run reverse a year later. Another pulverising defeat looked certain in 2021 when Hampshire amassed 488 and then dismissed the visitors for a dismal 72. But Hashim Amla’s heroically stubborn 37no saw him bat throughout the final day with help from the lower order to force a draw at 122-8.
