Throughout The Hundred, we will be regularly checking in to inform Surrey Members & supporters of how our players are playing in the competition.

Alice Capsey & Danielle Gregory were the two Surrey Women in the Oval Invincibles team that defeated Manchester Originals at The Kia Oval on Wednesday’s opening night.

Capsey opened the batting for Invincibles, scoring four runs. Gregory bowled ten balls of her leg spin, going for 18 runs.

The key players for Oval Invincibles were former Surrey Stars players Dane van Niekerk (56 not out), Marizanne Kapp (2 wickets and 38 runs) & Mady Villiers (1 wicket, 16 not out).

Starting shortly after Surrey had defeated Yorkshire in the Royal London Cup up in Scarborough, Oval Invincibles’ men’s side included six Surrey players. Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Laurie Evans, Will Jacks, Jason Roy and Reece Topley were all in the side.

Of those six, Tom Curran made the most runs (29). Jason Roy scored 20, Will Jacks hit 15 and Sam Curran (6) and Laurie Evans (0) also batted.

There was a wicket each for Tom Curran & Reece Topley and two for Sam Curran as the men completed the Oval Invincibles double.

Friday sees the London Spirit of Aylish Cranstone & Jade Dernbach take on Birmingham Phoenix.

On Saturday, Natalie Sciver’s Trent Rockets play Sophia Dunkley’s Southern Brave. That day will also see Welsh Fire (Amy Gordon, Liam Plunkett, Bryony Smith) face Northern Superchargers face Northern Superchargers.

Oval Invincibles play again on Sunday, this time against London Spirit before Manchester Originals against Birmingham Phoenix.
