Surrey have signed Singapore international batter Tim David for the final two Vitality Blast South Group fixtures over the next week but how much do you know about him?

David will be available for our Friday night fixture with Kent Spitfires at The Kia Oval as well as the group stage closer against Gloucestershire on the 16th July.

Here we take a look at the man.

STATS

In his 14 T20 internationals for Singapore, David is going along at 46.50 and a strike rate of 158.52 while his five List A games for his country see him average 92.25. He has also claimed 3 wickets in this format with his right arm off-spin.

In the Big Bash, he has made 388 runs at an average of 25.86 and a strike rate of 148.09 with a stand out score of 58. In this year’s Pakistan Super League, he made 180 runs from six innings including a brutal 64 not out.

As this video shows, David hits a clean ball.

QUOTES ON SIGNING

Speaking on his opportunity, David said: “I’m stoked with the chance to play for a county as big as Surrey and to get my first experience of playing in the Vitality Blast. It has been a busy few days since I got a call with the potential opportunity and I can’t wait to play at the Kia Oval tomorrow night hopefully in front of a big crowd.

“After finishing the PSL in the UAE recently, I decided to play some league cricket in Holland instead of flying back to Australia to quarantine and I am really excited that an opportunity has come up and hopefully I can have an impact for Surrey in their final few T20 Blast games.”

HIS JOURNEY TO INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

How did a player in the Australian system, represeting Big Bash sides, come to play for Singapore? The ICC told that interesting story back in October 2019.
