Surrey Second XI’s LV= County Championship match against Durham Second XI at Woodbridge Road is building to an exciting climax as we enter the final day.

At the end of Day Two, Durham were in a commanding position at 248/2 in reply to Surrey’s 327 but three quick wickets saw the home side rein in the north-easterners and a Durham declaration before lunch on 319/6 meant the game was wide open.

Performance Manager Matt Spriegel says: “Justin Broad and Dan Moriarty bowled really nicely in the first hour with control and accuracy and we were able to stop them getting away from us. The declaration took us a bit by surprise but we battled to lunch then afterwards Cam Steel and Justin Broad went about things really nicely. Cam was unlucky to be given out caught down the legside but Broady carried on where he left off in the first innings and we hope he can go on to get us to a place where we can declare and set Durham a target. All three results are possible currently, which is great.”

Spriegel continues: “I’m pleased with how the batters are putting scores together. Broady, Tom Lawes and Josh Blake have all been consistent and it bodes well.”

With the forecast set fair at Guildford, this should be a cracking day’s cricket. Fans are welcome at Woodbridge Road, with entrance free of charge at all times.

Updates on the match will provided on Surrey CCC social media channels, a live score will be available to follow on the NV Play platform and full reports of each day’s play will be posted on kiaoval.com.
