Surrey Women players Izzy Berry and Maddie Blinkhorn-Jones have been selected as part of the 2022 intake into the South East Stars Academy.

The South East Stars Academy, led by Senior Regional Talent Manager and former Surrey Women Head Coach Tom Lister, combines the best young players in the Surrey & Kent and wider region to train and play together. Next summer, they will face development sides from the other seven centres of excellence that exist as part of the ECB’s Regional network.

Berry & Blinkhorn-Jones, both 18, follow on from Chloe Brewer, Alice Capsey & Claudie Cooper, who were in the 2021 Academy intake. Capsey has now moved on to a professional deal with South East Stars while Brewer & Cooper will be looking to push for regular selection at this level in 2022.

Berry is a right arm seamer who featured regularly for Surrey in T20 and 50 over cricket in 2021 while Blinkhorn-Jones is a top order batter who played five times for Surrey in 2021 after making her debut in 2020.

They are joined in the Academy squad by Bethan Miles, who featured twice for Surrey Women during the 2021 London Championship.
