We are delighted to announce that Emma Calvert has been appointed the Director of Women’s Cricket for the South East Region.
Emma brings a wealth of experience across finance and sport, having most recently spent time at City Football Group as the Global Head of Treasury. Passionate about diversity and inclusion, Emma also sits on the board of directors for British Wheelchair Basketball.
Having previously represented Lancashire at Cricket, Emma will combine her love of the sport with her business and commercial experience to help take the Women’s game to the next level.
Emma, who will be joining the team in October, said: “It is an absolute honour to take up the role as Director of Women’s cricket for the South East Region. The chance to have an impact and make a difference is an opportunity given to very few and I will give it everything I have to try and shape the next era of Women and Girls cricket.
“There has been a phenomenal amount of work done in recent years in the Women’s game and I hope to be able to build upon that in my new role. I want to ensure positive experiences are provided to all those involved in the game at any level and that a platform is created that allows Women and Girls the opportunity to fulfil their potential.”
Talking about Emma’s appointment, Surrey CEO Steve Elworthy said: “I’m very happy to be welcoming Emma to the role. She blew us away in her interview, not just with her commercial acumen and sport knowledge, but with her commitment to the same values that I want to define our club and business.
“I believe she is the best person to drive women’s and girls’ cricket forward, and to do so in a way that prioritises inclusivity and accessibility. Emma shares our belief that cricket is for everyone and I’m sure she is going to be a tremendous leader for Women’s cricket in the South East Region.”
