Surrey players Laurie Evans and Jamie Overton will both play in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League, starting on 28 January 2021.

Evans will play for Maratha Arabians while Overton is set to turn out for Team Abu Dhabi in the 10 over competition that will be played over the course of 10 days.

Evans’ Arabians will be in Group A with Bangla Tigers, Delhi Bulls & Northern Warriors while Team Abu Dhabi face Qalandars, Pune Devils & Deccan Gladiators in Group B.

Following the group stage, every side moves into a Super League where they will play four matches. From there, the top four ranked teams will go on to the knockout stage culminating in the final on 6th February.

For Evans, this competition comes off the back of an incredibly successful Lanka Premier League since the end of the 2020 English domestic season. The batsman scored 289 runs in just eight appearances as his Colombo Kings reached the semi-final stage.

Other English players at the 2021 edition include Alex Hales, Luke Wright, Sam Billings, Tom Banton & Chris Jordan.

The Abu Dhabi T10 was last played in November 2019 with Jordan Clark, Evans, Will Jacks & Liam Plunkett all involved from a Surrey perspective. Although Maratha Arabians won that edition, Evans was instead then playing for Qalandars.

Elsewhere around the globe, Will Jacks & Jason Roy continue to play in the Australian Big Bash while four Surrey men (Sam Curran, Ben Foakes, Ollie Pope* & Amar Virdi) are part of England’s touring party to Sri Lanka.

*Pope is not part of the playing squad for this two-match series. He is with the England camp in order to continue his rehabilitation from a shoulder injury sustained last summer ahead of next month’s series in India.
