Five Surrey players have been selected in Charlotte Edwards’ first England squads for the upcoming white-ball series with the West Indies.

Sophia Dunkley, Alice Capsey, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Paige Scholfield have been selected in the IT20 squad for three matches. Dunkley – who is in both squads, is joined in the ODI squad by Alice Davidson-Richards.

Dunkley has enjoyed a prolific start to the season. She’s scored 319 runs so far at an average of 63.8. She became Surrey’s new professional women’s first centurion in the narrow defeat to Warwickshire.

All-rounder Davidson-Richards has been recalled to the England set up for the first time since 2023. ADR has been exceptional with the bat in Surrey’s middle order, scoring 257 runs at a strike-rate of 107.

All-rounder Capsey smashed 163 runs in England’s narrow defeat to Australia A in the one-off Test match down under at the start of April. She has also hit in excess of 270 runs in the Three Feathers this season and has also taken six wickets with her off spin.

Scholfield returns to the England squad after missing the Ashes trip in the winter due to injury. She has collected 236 runs in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at a strike rate of over 108. Paige also impressed in England A’s one-off Test match with a superb 164 in the first innings.

Wyatt-Hodge is included in the T20 squad. She has been a regular feature at the top of Surrey’s order, consistently giving her side fast starts in the powerplay and boasts a strike rate of over 96.

Led by new captain Sciver-Brunt, England will contest three Vitality IT20s and three Metro Bank One Day Internationals (ODIs). The IT20 series gets underway with the opening match on Wednesday 21 May in Canterbury.

Warwickshire duo Emily Arlott and Issy Wong are selected. Arlott, who is yet to make her international debut, is named in both groups. She scored a century batting at number seven against Essex and has taken 13 wickets so far in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Fast bowler Wong impressed for England Women A in their recent tour of Australia and in her county’s opening matches. Lancashire’s Emma Lamb, who is the leading run-scorer in the country, returns to the fold.

The Blaze’s opening batter Tammy Beaumont and spinner Linsey Smith – the leading wicket-taker in the Metro Bank One Day Cup – are selected in both squads. Sophie Ecclestone has been unable to play domestic cricket due to a knee injury and her return to the Lancashire side has come too late for her to be deemed ready for selection for this series.
