The sun is shining in London this weekend and there is world-class cricket to watch at The Kia Oval – free of charge for all.
The South East Stars will be taking on the Western Storm in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy with England stars lining up on both sides.
The Stars had a mixed opening weekend, dominating the Sunrisers in Chelmsford – winning by 135 runs behind a superb century from Sophia Dunkley – but then losing their home opener, played at the County Ground in Beckenham, to the Southern Vipers by seven wickets.
With England players including Surrey’s Bryony Smith and Sophia Dunkley and seamers Tash Farrant and Freya Davies, the Stars will be hoping to return to winning ways, although they’ll be up against high quality opposition in the Western Storm.
England captain Heather Knight opens the batting for the Storm and has started the season strongly, scoring 91 in their opening victory over Thunder before adding a further 59 in their second game – a 41 run defeat to Central Sparks. There have also been runs and wickets for England seamer Anya Shrubsole, who magicked up a partnership of 43 for the final wicket to secure a dramatic victory in their opener.
If you want to watch the game – the action starts at 10.30am – then just come down to The Kia Oval on Saturday. Social distancing measures will still be in place and there will be food and drink available at Smokie’s Bar underneath Block 3 of the JM Finn Stand.
The game will also be available to watch on the Surrey CCC YouTube channel, with commentary from the voice of Surrey Cricket, Mark Church.
