Surrey County Cricket Club Launch ‘It’s Not Sport, It’s Art’ Campaign, in association with the Surrey Cricket Foundation.

Surrey CCC have today (Tuesday 13 December) launched a new campaign to engage with younger audiences and to help build a strong connection with the history of the game and the power of the sport.

The campaign will build on something cricket fans already know: it’s not just sport, it’s art.

Surrey CCC and the Surrey Cricket Foundation are challenging young people to recreate iconic photos from the history of Surrey and of cricket at The Kia Oval as art for the chance to win some brilliant prizes.

Young people will be able to choose from a collection of remarkable moments and inspiring individuals. Categories will include Surrey Today, Surrey Legends and Internationals at The Kia Oval post-2000, with famous faces to choose from like Sam Curran, Alice Capsey, Freddie Flintoff, Ebony Rainford-Brent and many, many more!

The competition is open to young people up to the age of 16, and to enter, all they need to do is submit a scan/photo of their artwork alongside a few words about themselves, why they chose their selected picture and, most importantly, tell us why they love cricket!

The photos to choose from to recreate as your artwork can be found in these links:

Submissions should include:

  • Name
  • Age
  • School
  • Contact details of an adult caregiver whom we can contact should the entry be successful
  • The first game of cricket you watched (if you remember!)
  • Why you’ve selected the picture you have
  • …Why you love cricket!

Submissions will be judged by a panel of cricket experts at Surrey CCC (which will be sure to include a few recognisable names), with the judges looking to see both creativity and a real passion for cricket.

All submissions will be published on the Surrey Cricket website and may be posted on Surrey CCC and Surrey Cricket Foundation social media channels, so the young people can see their work showcased for everyone to see.

Four winners will be selected from across four different age groups (up to 8-years-old, 9-11 years, 11-13 years and 13-16 years) and each winner will win the following incredible prizes:

  • 4 Tickets to either the Sussex, Hampshire or Essex Vitality Blast games at The Kia Oval (Sunday 28 May 2023, Sunday 18 June 2023 or Sunday 2 July 2023 respectively)
  • A signed Vitality Blast shirt
  • A special tour of The Kia Oval

You can enter via the online form below:
