A group of young Surrey Members were treated to a brilliant event at The Kia Oval as part of the Club’s Pride of Lions Day, meeting Surrey and England cricketer Jamie Overton as well as taking part in a range of activities.

The young fans were given a taste of The Kia Oval’s history on an interactive tour of the stadium as well as an exclusive opportunity to put their own questions to Jamie Overton in a Q&A hosted by ACE director Chevy Green.

After talking cricket at length with Overton and receiving a coaching masterclass from the ACE programme coaches, the Pride of Lions members got the chance to show their batting and bowling skills and have some fun while playing cricket-related games. The young fans had the opportunity to have their faces painted as well as taking catches in front a green screen; with a full house at The Kia Oval superimposed behind them.

The Pride also had the pleasure of watching Surrey bat from some of the best seats at The Kia Oval during the post-lunch session of their LV= Insurance County Championship match against Hampshire on Day 2.

All the U16 members of Surrey County Cricket Club make up the Pride of Lions, and every year the Club invites the Pride to The Kia Oval for a day to celebrate their love for cricket and Surrey.

Jamie Overton said: “It was great to meet some of Surrey’s biggest fans and talk to them about the game. They were asking some interesting questions and it was brilliant to chat to them.

“As a team, we’re grateful for the support of the fans and I think we might see some of the kids from today pulling on the Three Feathers here at The Kia Oval in the not too distant future.”
