Records have continued to tumble at the Kia Oval as Surrey sees its highest ever Membership alongside record figures for digital engagement and attendance.
Membership for Surrey and the Kia Oval has reached 20,554, passing the high watermark of 20,018 in 2024. Due to the popularity, the Club will shortly close application for new Memberships in 2025 to ensure the highest experience on matchdays for current Members. Notably our Championship, Surrey 16-21, Surrey 22-25 and Pride of Lions Memberships will remain open as the Club seeks to continue to grow red ball cricket and engage younger fans to support the long term growth of the Club.
The Club has broken its 21st Century attendance figures for a fixture in the last three consecutive matches. The match against Durham saw 15,655 spectators come through the gates, including 5,200 pupils from across the county who attended the Surrey Cricket Foundation’s Schools’ Day on Monday. 68,537 spectators have visited the ground in 2025, passing the total attendance across the 2024 season as, with two County Championship fixtures remaining.
Meanwhile the Club’s digital figures have also reached new heights. Live streams of Surrey fixtures on YouTube have passed 3.5 million views, surpassing the 2024 total figure of 2.5m with 17 days of home county cricket still scheduled to be played. Over 1 million views have come from Rothesay County Championship Cricket.
On social media, the Club’s digital content has already had more than 130 million impressions engaging just over 3 million people – another record for Surrey at this point in the year.
Steve Elworthy, CEO at Surrey County Cricket Club, said “It’s incredibly pleasing to see the interest in Surrey and in particular County Championship reaching record highs. As a Members’ Club we people to feel that this is their second home and it’s so encouraging to see so many are taking that up.
“We are continuing to develop how we create a warm and welcoming environment for our Members and for the public. Seeing young people and families coming along in great numbers and come out at lunch and tea to play on the outfield gives me great confidence that the next generation of fans are falling in love with the sport. There are so many exciting matches left this season with our men’s and women’s teams fighting for silverware on all fronts – we encourage supporters to not miss out on the un-rivalled atmosphere at the Kia Oval and come along this summer.”
