Surrey’s Festival of Red Ball Cricket is returning for its third edition when Nottinghamshire visit south London (Thu 20 – Sun 23 Aug) next month, with the Kia Oval aiming to continue its record-breaking attendance streak for the showcase fixture.
Supported by the Club’s partner, Ambassador Cruise Line, the celebration of the longest format, which has set a new attendance record in 2024 and 2025 respectively, will include a range of vibrant activities for spectators of all ages to enjoy in the ground, alongside compelling cricket between two great teams.
To help spread the word of red ball cricket, Surrey Members will receive four additional guest vouchers and Notts Members can access discounted £10 tickets for this fixture. General admission tickets are just £1 for kids and £15 for adults when booked ahead of the day of the match.
With the school holidays still on, the festival will have a special Family Day on Day 3 (Sat 22 Aug), and arrangements will be made for young supporters to meet the mascots, enjoy the Xbox zone, or test themselves in pop-up cricket nets. As ever, fans will be allowed to venture onto the field during the lunch and tea intervals to walk, play with their friends or family, or investigate the pitch from afar.
The ever popular Beer and Real Ale festival will be back once again for this fixture, allowing fans to take in a festive atmosphere and enjoy a wide range of beers and ales in the stands or from one of many benches in the Pavilion forecourt. They can also spin the wheel for a Brixton Brewery giveaway or get a chance to meet the brewers.
Across the Festival, Surrey fans will get various opportunities to attend book signings and talks with ex-cricketers, with Club legends like Ali Brown and Zaheer Abbas set to feature, among others.
Our friends from Ambassador Cruise Line, who offer discounts to all Surrey fans on their cruise ships, will be present at the ground to engage with the supporters and celebrate red-ball cricket.
More details about the Festival will be announced in due course.
Steve Elworthy, Chief Executive at Surrey CCC, says: “Red ball cricket is at the heart of our great Club, and the Festival of Red Ball Cricket is one of our ways of celebrating the purest form of the game.
“It is wonderfully exciting that the showcase fixture will be played in the middle of the school summer holidays this year, and we look forward to seeing many young supporters and their families enjoy what should be a great contest in the County Championship.”
Gordon Nardini, Chief Marketing Officer at Ambassador Cruise Line, comments: “As proud members of the Surrey family, we’re thrilled to support this initiative for the second year. The beauty of red-ball cricket lies in the journey as much as the destination, with twists, turns and memorable moments along the way – something that resonates strongly with us as a cruise line dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences while offering the Warmest Welcome at Sea.”
