Surrey surpass 21st century attendance record at the Kia Oval as more than 86,000 spectators attend the County Championship at the ground this year.

This year’s figure of 86,503 beat the total in 2025 when 84,834 fans came into the ground.

Six of the seven red ball fixtures this summer saw more than 10,000 fans coming into the south London venue including a record for a single fixture as 15,663 fans came to watch Surrey take on Essex in April.

More than 1,000 spectators took advantage of the Club’s offer for fans to ‘Work from Oval’, utilising the superfast WiFi and pitch-view power access to turn the Kia Oval into their home office.

Another 21st century record was passed, with the Club selling more tickets to general admission spectators than before in this century. More than 43,000 spectators purchased day tickets over the course of the season.

This was supported by the Club’s initiatives to grow the audience for the red ball game including offering reduced price tickets to Test Match ticket purchasers after the Lord’s Test finished prematurely in June – more than 400 spectators made the trip south of the river when the Test ended after just 20 overs on day four.

Surrey also offered two free tickets to those who purchased tickets to day five of the Kia Oval Test Match against New Zealand, as well as a 50% refund, after the day’s play ended in just 61 balls as the Kiwis swept to victory. Over 1,500 tickets were claimed as part of this offer.

The annual ‘Festival of Red Ball Cricket’ was another huge success with a great range of activities organised across the fixture against Nottinghamshire in August. Although the game ended inside three days, over 13,444 spectators attended.

The Club also offered free tickets to London Marathon runners who showed up with their finishing medal.

Surrey 2027 Memberships are on sale now ahead of another incredible summer which will see over 50 days of domestic cricket as well Men’s and Women’s Ashes matches and a return to south London of the World Test Championship Final.
