Surrey’s Nat Sciver is England Women’s Most Valuable Player for 2021/22 according to the PCA MVP Rankings, following her majestic hundred in Sunday’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final in Christchurch.
The all-rounder has statistically been England’s best player across all formats during a winter that has included both an Ashes and a World Cup, rounded off by her unforgettable innings of 148 not out in an ultimately losing cause against Australia.
Sciver scored 223 MVP points in Test, ODI and IT20 cricket this winter at an average of 14.9 points-per-game, meaning she finished 43 points clear of spin bowler Sophie Ecclestone who came in second in the Overall MVP.
It is a remarkable third Overall MVP in succession for the impressive Sciver, who has consistently been one of England’s most reliable performers.
The 29-year-old scored 173 MVP points against India and New Zealand last summer, and 64.3 MVP points during winter 2020/21, underlining her status as one of the world’s foremost all-rounders.
Behind Sciver and Ecclestone, captain Heather Knight (119 MVP points), fast bowler Katherine Brunt (117) and opening batter Tammy Beaumont (112) make up the remainder of the Overall MVP top five.
In addition, Sciver finishes as the format-specific ODI MVP following a winter where she excelled in the 50-over format and almost ended with a World Cup win.
Across 12 50-over appearances throughout the Ashes and World Cup, Sciver scored 186 MVP points at an average of 15.5 points-per-game, including a huge 47.7 in Sunday’s final.
The MVP Rankings were designed by the PCA in conjunction with CricViz and the players to identify the top performers in the game from a statistical point of view.
