Surrey 2nd XI fought well on day three of their Second XI Championship clash against Somerset 2nd XI
The day was dominated by an excellent innings from Alfie Haxton, who made a superb 102 from 212 balls, including 16 fours. Haxton provided the backbone of the Surrey innings and passed three figures once again after spending more than four hours at the crease.
The opening batter shared useful partnerships throughout the innings, including a 105-run stand with Ralphie Albert, who contributed a patient 47 from 77 balls. Albert was eventually dismissed by HNJ Richards, while Haxton was run out for 102, who continued his exceptional form with the bat.
TC Lloyd provided valuable knock during the middle overs, scoring 59 from 118 deliveries, hitting eight fours along the way.
Yousef Majid and Oliver Gibson also chipped in with the bat scoring 45 and 33 respectively, but Surrey were all out for 354. Somerset required 51 for victory in their second innings.
Majid picked up a wicket in his first over of the evening, bowling Kohler-Cadmore for four, but Smeed and Perera saw the hosts through to the end of play, as both sides head back tomorrow with Somerset requiring 21 more runs to win.
