Matthew Spriegel and Jack Brooks have been added to the coaching staff of the Surrey men’s team
Spriegel, who played for Surrey between 2008 and 2012, moves to the professional set up as an Assistant Coach.
Jack Brooks joins the club as a Bowling Consultant on a part-time basis.
Spriegel, who hit the winning runs in the 2011 CB40 final at Lord’s, has spent time coaching with the Surrey Academy and with the Second XI. His primary focus will be working with the Surrey Second XI, where his experience supporting the development of players from the pathway to the performance set up will be particularly valuable.
Matthew Spriegel said: “I’m excited to be working full time in the professional set up. I really enjoyed my opportunities around the squad last summer and am looking forward to continuing this on a permanent basis.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the young talent we have in the pathway, and I look forward to seeing how they progress in the coming years.
“The club has had great success in the last few seasons, and, working with Batts and the rest of the staff, I want to contribute to that continuing.”
Jack Brooks joins the Club as a Bowling Consultant on a part-time basis. His primary focus is working with the Club’s promising bowlers in the Second XI and Academy.
Brooks worked with the Club during the 2024 season after finishing his professional career at the end of the 2023 season.
The former Northamptonshire, Yorkshire and Somerset bowler took 661 career wickets, including 531 first class wickets from 154 matches.
“I loved my time at Surrey in 2024. I jumped at the opportunity once again when Alec Stewart called.
“It’s a very hard-working and well led environment that I am really honoured to be a part of. I’m looking forward to working with a talented group of young bowlers once again this season!”
