Surrey have named a squad of 14 to travel to Leicestershire in the Royal London Cup on Saturday, including new signing Cameron Steel for the first time.
Steel, who contracted Covid 19 shortly after joining and has since been recovering, is a leg spinner and top order batter.
Hashim Amla failed a late fitness test on his groin on Thursday morning ahead of Surrey’s meeting with Somerset and will not travel for this match. Jamie Smith will continue as captain in his absence.
Surrey currently sit in third with two wins, one defeat and two abandoned fixtures. The top three in the group after eight matches will progress to the knockout stages.
Gus Atkinson, Jordan Clark, Tom Curran, Jade Dernbach, Laurie Evans, Will Jacks, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy & Reece Topley are all with their sides for The Hundred competition and will be unavailable for Surrey throughout that competition. Ben Foakes & Jamie Overton had to withdraw from that competition due to injury.
Rory Burns, Sam Curran and Ollie Pope are with the England Test squad, preparing for the upcoming Test series with India. Gareth Batty is part of the coaching staff headed up by Richard Johnson for this competition.
Surrey have not played a completed List A match against Leicestershire since 2011, when Jason Roy hit 131 on the way to lifting the trophy at Lord’s the following month.
The match will be live streamed by our hosts and shared on kiaoval.com with regular updates and in-play clips available on our social media channels.
