Surrey County Cricket Club is inviting applications for the position of Chair.

The Club

Surrey CCC is a leading first-class county cricket club, founded in 1845, now with around 18,000 Members and revenue from cricket and our other commercial activities at the Kia Oval in excess of £45 million. The Club won the County Cricket Championship in 2022. The Club is guided by a respect for our heritage combined with a forward-thinking agenda. Our ambition is to be the most inclusive and sustainable county cricket club in the country and the best international cricket ground, while fully engaged with our local community, winning trophies, and developing cricketers for England.

The Role

The Chair of the Club is a prestigious position. The role includes: oversight of the Executive; chairing the Board, which comprises executive directors and independent non-executive directors; chairing the General Committee, which is elected by the Members; leading relationships with key stakeholders and representing the Club externally including with the governing body for cricket – the England and Wales Cricket Board. The Chair is accountable to the Members.

The Candidate

Candidates should be proven leaders with a love of cricket, and the breadth of experience and personal qualities required to lead a public-facing, member-owned organisation with significant commercial activities. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the challenges of sports governance, a commitment to Surrey CCC and the capacity to meet the significant time demands of the role, which involves around 4-5 days per month together with availability to represent the Club at a significant number of days of domestic and international cricket in the summer.
