Surrey Cricket Foundation have today released the Surrey Cricket Foundation Impact Report for 2022, highlighting the vast amount of work that was carried out throughout the year, via a range of initiatives across the county and South London.

2022 saw the Foundation build on the successes of the previous year, and saw yet further increase in participation in a number of areas.

Some key findings of the report include:

  • Our work in schools, in partnership with Chance to Shine, saw nearly 20,000 children receive cricket coaching. For many this was their first taste of cricket.
  • The Women and Girls game within Surrey continues to grow too. We saw over 300 girls teams taking part, which is three times more than the next best County. In addition to this, over 100 women’s teams competed in our various competitions, which is another high for any county in the country.
  • The Surrey Junior Cricket Championship saw over 17,000 young people participating in 5,600+ matches across the 2022 season.
  • Over £400,000 of grant funding was distributed for facilities projects across Surrey and South London, enabling not only the enhancement of existing facilities, but also the introduction of new sites.
  • Nearly 500 new coaches were trained, enhancing the workforce across the county.
  • We reached over 1,000 children across all our disability projects, including at our dedicated Disability Day at the Kia Oval.
  • 160 children local to the Kia Oval received free school holiday activities as part of our Vauxhall Loop programme.
  • Over 450 kids took part in our Street Cricket projects at 17 sites across South London.

Chris Coleman, Director of Cricket Participation in Surrey, said “2022 was another incredible year for cricket in Surrey. None of these successes are possible without the incredible hard work of the Foundation team and the scores of volunteers around the county. A big thank you to you all.”
