With the cold weather now here to stay for a little while in England, Surrey fans will have to content themselves with their TV and radio to get a fix of the Club’s players in action around the world.

It’s been a couple of months since we said goodbye to the 2021 summer at The Kia Oval but after a T20 World Cup, we’ve not suffered for a lack of cricket on our screens during the colder days.

Here we look to the international and domestic cricket that’s approaching over the next month that includes Surrey players.

Men’s Ashes

The biggest Test series of them all and perhaps the toughest challenge in any England player’s career is an Ashes tour of Australia. Rory Burns & Ollie Pope are part of the full squad down under while Ben Foakes and Jamie Smith are in the Lions group that are shadowing the main tour until the middle of the month.

Much of their preparation has been disrupted by rain so far but there will be more practice ahead of the first Test, which starts on 8th December. All Tests will be shown on BT Sport in the UK.

1st Test, 8-12 December, Brisbane

Australia A v England Lions, 9-12 December, Brisbane

2nd Test, 16-20 December, Adelaide

3rd Test, 26-30 December, Melbourne

Big Bash League

Chris Jordan, Daniel Worrall, Laurie Evans, Reece Topley, Tom Curran are all part of the Surrey contingent in this year’s Australia’s Big Bash T20 tournament.

Chris Jordan is a late addition to the Sydney Sixers after an injury to Carlos Brathwaite, where he will join Tom Curran. Worrall, the Australian-born seamer with a British passport who will join Surrey at the start of the 2022 season, will play for Adelaide Strikers. Laurie Evans and Reece Topley are recent signings for Perth Scorchers & Melbourne Renegades respectively.

The competition starts on Sunday 5th December and runs until Friday 28th January 2022 and matches will be shown on Sky Sports.

Abu Dhabi T10 League

The T10 League has been ongoing since the middle of November and ends this Saturday. Will Jacks’ stint with Bangla Tigers has included 57 from 22 balls while Jamie Overton has three wickets and 33 runs for Team Abu Dhabi.

Training at The Kia Oval

The Surrey men not competing around the world are back in training at The Kia Oval, utilising the gym, Ken Barrington Indoor Cricket Centre and, if and when made possible by the weather, on the pitch.

They will work several days a week on their skills and fitness with the coaches before finishing the week before Christmas ahead of a return on the 4th January.

England Women in Oman

The England Women are in Oman for some warm weather training ahead of The Ashes series starting at the end of January. The travelling party includes Surrey Women Nat Sciver & Sophia Dunkley.

Lanka Premier League

The Lanka Premier League also is played in December but doesn’t feature Surrey players.
