Surrey have signed Hampshire academy player Rachel King on a four-week rookie contract after shining in Surrey’s 2nd XI, whilst also extending the stay of Irish international Amy Hunter.

Wicketkeeper-bat Rachel King will join up with Surrey ahead of their Metro Bank Women’s One Day Cup game against Essex on the 19th May.

The Hampshire academy player has featured in Surrey’s 2nd XI cricket this summer and has demonstrated serious form the bat and gloves.

King will offer depth to the squad as international duties call away five senior members in the lead up to the West Indies series this month, whilst also benefitting from exposure to tier one cricket in a senior side. Skipper Bryony Smith and allrounder Alice Monaghan are also unavailable due to injury.

Irish international Amy Hunter extends her stay with Surrey by one game before Monday’s fixture.
