Girls and boys in Surrey, between the ages of nine and 18, can now send their video applications to show off their cricketing skills and apply for the Surrey Talent Pathway’s 2025 intake.
Launched in 2023, Surrey County Cricket Club’s Video Submission Assessment Process is open for its third year, with the aim of making the talent identification process of young cricketers in the county more open, easy, and equitable.
The video assessments allow anyone who believes they are of the ability to be a Surrey CCC Performance cricketer to nominate themselves. Before the launch of this new process two years ago, only local clubs, schools, and other cricketing organisations were able to nominate players for an assessment.
Players are assessed anonymously in order to ensure that no unconscious bias regarding a player’s school or club influences the process.
Entries can be submitted from Thursday, 15 May 2025, up until Tuesday, 1 July 2025. All applicants will need to fit the eligibility criteria, submit a video that is in line with the highlighted protocols, and complete the assessment consent form.
Videos have to be submitted via WhatsApp to the following numbers:
Boys U10-U18 (school years 5 to 13) – 07956 449 289
Girls U10-U18 (school years 5 to 13) – 07956 449 256
Players must live or go to school in Surrey or be registered at a cricket club in the county. Players must also possess a British Passport or have proof of ‘permanent leave to remain’ in the UK. Boys and girls from U10-U18 (school years 5 to 13), can apply. Please note, those in Academic Year 2025/26 can still apply.
Jennifer Jackson-Tullett, Head of Talent Pathway at Surrey Cricket, said: “Our age group assessments are a significant part of Surrey’s Talent identification strategy, and we are looking forward to receiving more and more videos from aspiring young cricketers in the county, displaying their cricket skills.”
Chris Taylor, Head of Talent Pathway at Surrey Cricket, added: “When we introduced the video submission process two years ago, the idea was to make the application process for those interested in the pathway as easy and as accessible as possible, and the response we have received has been encouraging.
“We want to continue growing this process, and would like to encourage clubs, schools, parents, and anyone who loves the game and wants to see young, talented cricketers in Surrey get their chance, to spread the word about this programme.”
