Surrey & England wicket keeper batter Ben Foakes is preparing for some short stuff in the upcoming tour of West Indies – facing bouncers in the Kia Oval nets.

The 29-year-old has been hard at work since returning from the England Lions tour of Australia in December to ensure he is prepared for his Test match call up. The squad for that tour was announced last week, with Foakes one of two keepers; alongside Jonny Bairstow.

His latest drill is facing relentless short balls directed towards his body at express pace via a mechanism similar to a dog ball thrower from Director of Cricket Alec Stewart & Interim Head Coach Gareth Batty.

With a team full of high pace bowlers and some bouncy pitches in the Caribbean, it’s always best to be prepared for what is coming.

The best way to see Foakes & his Surrey teammates in 2022 is with a Club Membership, priced at £20 for U16s and from £71 for adults.
