The Young Leaders in Cricket Programme, which is delivered in the county by the Surrey Cricket Foundation (SCF), will be returning for its third consecutive year in Surrey.

The initiative provides opportunities for 14-16-year-olds to acquire leadership skills, empowering them to volunteer within the community of their cricket club and/or school. The programme also offers young people cricket training sessions to help them improve their game as well as equip them with valuable life skills to be used both on and off the field.

In the past two years, more than 230 young individuals from across the county have participated in the programme. Participants have taken part in various training sessions that focus on key areas such as coaching and communication, leadership and people management, teamwork, and environmental awareness. By engaging in these sessions, young leaders gain the necessary skills to make a positive impact at their clubs and in their daily lives.

The success of the programme is evident through the remarkable achievements accomplished by the participants in fundraising and volunteering. In 2023 alone, over £8000 was raised for important causes, and more than 2000 volunteering hours were registered by young leaders in Surrey. This not only showcases their dedication and commitment but also highlights the positive impact the programme has on the cricket community as a whole.
